— BIG IDEAS IN THE GREAT MIDWEST —

Smart thinking transcends medium. That’s why we’re not a digital agency. Or a traditional agency. Or any other kind of narrowly-defined agency.

Our niche, if you’re looking for one, is formulating strong and differentiating big ideas. We then apply those ideas across the best media for our clients’ needs—whether it’s digital marketing, traditional advertising, guerrilla tactics, or anything else.

We believe focusing on any particular medium would be a disservice to clients.

— HISTORY —

The Flatland opened for business in 2004. Back then (and for 10-plus years after) we were called Seal Ideas. After bouncing around a few different locations, we moved to our permanent home on Indy’s Mass Ave.

During our first decade we built brands, advertising campaigns, and marketing materials that grew our clients’ businesses. As they grew, we grew too.

In 2015 we decided it was time for a change. That’s when we officially became known as The Flatland—an homage to the blue-collar, big-shouldered, work ethic of our home, the Midwest. Like the farmers and factory workers who raised us, we’re hands on, we’re deliberate, and we take pride in our craft. Today we work for clients close to home and far away.

— OUR SPACE —

The Flatland is an advertising agency and design firm in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our job is to grow our clients’ businesses by differentiating them through impactful creative execution.

We like what we do. We even like where we do it.

— COMPANY LEADERS —

We don’t hide the fact that we’re a small company. In fact, we think it’s one of our greatest strengths. There is no complex chain of command here. When you work with us, you work directly with senior staff who will respond to your needs competently and quickly.

We do work for well-known national clients. But we stay small enough to remain responsive and nimble.
